Prof. Abdelhak Azzouzi, President of the United Nations Chair for the Alliance of Civilizations and Member of the Board of Directors of Euromed University of Fez, took part in the international forum “Quo Vadis Europa?”, held at the Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP) in Santander, Spain, at the invitation of H.E. Josep Borrell, former High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Speaking during the session “The Global Context: A View from the South,” Prof. Azzouzi addressed the profound transformations reshaping the international system from the perspective of the Global South.

He highlighted five major forms of international disorder: strategic, normative, economic, representational and technological, while calling for a more representative, equitable and coherent multilateral system.

Particular attention was devoted to the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and to the Fès Call, resulting from the international gathering held on 27–28 April 2026, which brought together 2,100 participants from 74 countries.

Prof. Azzouzi also advocated a renewed relationship between Europe and the Global South, based on co-production, dialogue, innovation and shared responsibility.

His central message was clear: Europe must no longer simply look towards the South; it must learn to look at the world with the South.
