Prof. Mostapha Bousmina

Professor Mostapha Bousmina is the President of the Euromed University of Fes, Chancellor of the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology, and President of the African Research and Innovation Council of the African Union. He pursued his career in Canada, where he held the Canada Research Chair (Senior Level) in Nanotechnology, before returning to Morocco in 2008 to co-found the Moroccan Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation and Research (MASCIR), where he served as Chief Executive Officer.
He has held numerous leadership positions in research at the international level and is a member of several science academies worldwide, including the World Academy of Art and Science, which was established at the initiative of Albert Einstein. He has received several international awards, notably the Morand Lambla Award, recognizing the world’s leading researcher in polymers and nanotechnology, and the Steacie Fellowship, Canada’s highest distinction in research. In 2022, he was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Civil Merit by the King of Spain for his role in fostering cultural and academic ties between Spain and Morocco and between the two shores of the Mediterranean. In 2024, he was also ranked among the top 2% of the world’s best researchers according to Stanford University’s international ranking.
