The Youth Meetings on the Alliance of Civilizations
Last February, our university launched the first African and Euro-Mediterranean Youth Summit in Rabat, organized in conjunction with the Summit of Speakers of Parliaments and the 17th Session of Parliamentarians of the Union for the Mediterranean, as a call for a new vision of the world, a world freed from incessant tensions, economic crises and accelerating ecological challenges. This inaugural summit enabled the youth to engage fully in collective reflection, to express an urgent need for peace and solidarity, in opposition to resignation in the face of the current crises. For this year’s gathering, we’re building on this momentum by strengthening hope and shared values around North-South cooperation. This summit invites young people to exchange views on Euro-Mediterranean relations, to deconstruct misunderstandings and to fight against all forms of violence, whether physical or symbolic. The themes addressed aim to explore in depth the phenomena of human mobility, whether voluntary migration, forced displacement or climate refugees, as these challenges are particularly acute in the Africa/Mediterranean region. Participants are encouraged to question and analyze these massive migratory dynamics, to assess their true scale and the means put in place to deal with them while respecting human rights. The aim is to go beyond security measures, propose solutions for harmonious integration, and highlight the essential contribution of the youth in building an inclusive and sustainable global citizenship.
Among the main themes selected for in-depth analysis:
– Migration Dynamics: Common Narratives and Contemporary Challenges
– Women and Immigration: Revisiting the Question of Gender
– Identities in Motion: Transformations and Integration
– Migration, Development and Economic Integration
– Talent Mobility and Diaspora: Challenges and opportunities
