The United States of the World Awards Ceremony with the Fondazione Mediterraneo at Euromed University of Fes

On Friday, December 6, the Euromed University of Fes hosted the prestigious Premio Mediterraneo Degli Stati Uniti Del Mondo Con La Fondazione Mediterraneo Award Ceremony, honoring four distinguished individuals renowned for their remarkable contributions to peace, development, innovation, and creativity.

Established in 1995 by the United States of the World in partnership with the Fondazione Mediterraneo and the Mediterranean Academy, these awards annually recognize political, cultural, and artistic figures who have worked to reduce tensions and promote universal values in the Mediterranean region and beyond.

The awards were presented during the Euromed University of Fes Meetings on the Alliance of Civilizations, held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and organized under the theme: “Rebuilding Trust for a Unified and Diverse World.”

2024 Award Recipients

  • Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget and President of the Moroccan Royal Football Federation (FRMF),
  • Miguel Ángel Moratinos, High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC),
  • Mostapha Bousmina, President of the Euromed University of Fes,
  • Françoise Atlan, Franco-Moroccan singer celebrated for her role in fostering artistic dialogue between cultures.

The ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Mr. André Azoulay, Advisor to His Majesty the King.

Recognizing Exemplary Contributions

In the Institutions category, Fouzi Lekjaa and Miguel Ángel Moratinos were honored for their initiatives aimed at strengthening coexistence and solidarity on an international scale.

In the Culture category, Mostapha Bousmina was recognized for his dedication to education, research, and the preservation of Mediterranean cultural heritage.

In the Art and Creativity category, Françoise Atlan received an award celebrating her exceptional artistic achievements and her role in bridging cultures through music.

A Heartfelt Tribute

The international jury, composed of forty members from both sides of the Mediterranean, unanimously praised the invaluable contributions of the awardees to building a world founded on peace, harmony, and respect for cultural diversity.

Mr. Michele Capasso, Secretary General of the United States of the World, emphasized the importance of acknowledging figures who embody the ideals of fairness, creativity, and peaceful coexistence. He stated, “These individuals represent the soul of our time. They inspire the construction of inclusive and harmonious societies.”

The Euromed University of Fes takes great pride in hosting this ceremony and in seeing its president, Professor Mostapha Bousmina, among the awardees. This event aligns seamlessly with UEMF’s mission to foster constructive dialogue between cultures and strengthen cooperation across the Euro-Mediterranean region.
